Hey, I’m Deepa, a location independent Design Leader with 16+ years of overall industry experience, out of which 8 years have been in Product Design. So, how did a Psychology student become a Designerd? Allow me to explain.

Back in the days of Orkut and Facebook, you would have found me hunching over the computer screen mastering the nuances of Windows or simply hooked onto HTML, CSS and the likes.. little did I know, that was the part that lit the fire of my enduring love affair with Design!

Many years passed, and before long I was working as a User Assistance Developer. I worked in top companies such as Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Deutsche Bank to name a few but something was amiss. I felt I was missing my creative expression. Enter, Design. I thought, why not? I was good with technology, research, content, business strategy, then shouldn’t I be approaching Design as my next career? That’s what I did. I took up a short-term course at first, and took up freelance projects to explore the path of Design. Further down the road, I took up the HFI Certification that enriched me and shaped my career. 

Fast forward 8 years of leading Design projects and teams, nothing makes me more happier than solving problems and crafting meaningful and successful products. That’s what I strive for – creating an impact that go beyond aesthetics, but using UX methodologies and visuals as a tool to fuel the right conversations. 

When I am not too immersed in the world of design, you can find me chilling on the couch buried in a book. Or the good old fashioned sleep marathon that I can boast of, or simply Netflix & chill. 

It’s safe to say am a Designerd using my toolkit to reshape the way people approach designing and building products, so that we can all make awesome products people love using.
